SELEUKID KINGS OF SYRIA. Antiochos II Theos, 261-246 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 31 mm, 17.00 g, 1 h), Lysimacheia, after 253. Diademed head of Antiochos II to right. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ - ANTIOXOY Apollo seated left on omphalos, holding arrow in his right hand and resting his left on grounded bow; to outer left, monogram of AN; in exergue, monogram of ΘE. Le Rider, Lysimachie, p. 198, D1/R4 and pl. I, 7. SC 483.7. WSM 1619. The obverse a bit rough, otherwise, about extremely fine.

This issue was struck in Lysimacheia, the former capital of Lysimachos († 281 BC), which appears to have been Antiochos' major military base during his Thracian campaign sometime after 253 BC.
